A brief history of micro®
The micro® success story began as a matter of convenience.
For the inventor of the original micro scooter, Wim Ouboter, it was too far to walk to his favourite bar and not quite far enough to warrant getting on his bike or getting the car out of the garage.
The solution had to be lightweight and easy to ride. And it had to fold up, so that it could be tucked out of the way when not being used. Out of "necessity" came a vehicle which did the job without any great expense.
Nowadays, kids of all ages around the world are familiar with the result: millions of micro® scooters have been sold worldwide, and it remains a bestseller.
Scooter riders have formed a global community and a new sport is evolving (www.micro-xtreme.net).
Of course, the micro® scooter wasn’t the first scooter ever. The first scooter was used in public in 1895, and has undergone many enhancements. Few products have set such a trend and had such a lasting impact on urban mobility. micro® was founded in 1996 and is based in the village of Küsnacht on Lake Zurich, Switzerland.
From here, a young and highly motivated head office team handles deliveries to around 52 countries including England, USA, South Africa, Scandinavia and Australia.
As well as micro® scooters, the micro® range includes kickboards, ride-ons and accessories.
